unrealtime: sonic learning

URTEX
workshops

In partnership with collaborator organisations in the UK, Ireland, and Greece, URTEX workshops will be facilitated at various educational institutions and community settings. The workshops will incorporate a broad array of themes and educational values while immersing learners in music improvisation and sound exploration by utilising the Unrealtime app. Participants will use the app’s specialised sonic performance design to explore music interaction concepts, improvise and collaborate creatively to craft a sonic performance inspired by themes linked to creative narrative and visual storytelling, ecology and sustainability values, STEAM subjects and freeform exploration. Workshops can end with a public performance, giving participants a goal to work towards and a chance to showcase their learning.

Workshop facilitators will be trained to foster creativity and spontaneity, complemented by the Unrealtime app in a process-oriented pedagogical approach that allows learners to express themselves and experiment with sound in new and innovative ways. The session design is based on previous Unrealtime workshops (Oscailt) and current workshop plans with collaborating organisations (Ootiboo).
